Hello everybody,
Yesterday we had another Formula 1 Sunday with the Belgium Grand Prix in Spa. I backed the Safety Car Appearance pre race with the intension to trade out for a small loss within the first few laps if there was no safety car. In the first lap a few cars crashed and happily I saw the safety car on track! First profit locked in.
Then I concentrated on the fastest lap market as usual. It was a little difficult to trade because there was no clear favourite. I got some nice odds on a few drivers, so I am happy with the profit. I have learned from my mistakes last year. I do not force any trades anymore. This is really nice.
Next race is in mid September in Monza.

If you are trading with a serious background you will have experienced paper trading. It is not very spectacular, but it is a safe way to test your new strategy or idea.
The problem with paper trading is you just write down the odds when you back and lay a given selection. Paper trading on the pre race horse market can be very inefficient. You need to make fast decisions based on the action in the market, so writing down your trades make it very difficult to follow the market.
Many people trying to learn trading with small stakes, but at the beginning they are losing money. Even if it is a small amount per day, they are just losing money.
When I am reading forums and articles related to betting and trading I always have my eyes open on new things which can help me to make more profit.
Today I found two pieces of software BetFairAndSquare and OddzBreaker, which provide a simulation mode for trading on sport events. Before I continue I just want to mention that I do not get money for writing about it, so this is not advertising, just sharing some news.

Today I want share some thoughts on confidence when trading.
If you are trading with a serious background you will have noticed that it is difficult to trade when you are ill or trade when you are not feeling good. If you had a losing streak your confidence might be lower.
The good trader has the knowledge and the tools to raise his confidence and is mood. There is a NLP technique called “Anchoring”. Almost everyone used in the past without knowing about it.
“Anchoring is the process by which a particular state or response is associated (anchored) with a unique anchor. An anchor is most often a gesture, voice tone or touch but could be any unique visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory or gustatory stimulus.”
A good way for me to push me in the right state is listening to music. So I will list some songs which help me to feeling good, not only for trading:

Today I traded the winner market of the 125cc and 250cc class of the Czech Grand Prix.
I used stake sizes of EUR10. In 125cc class I just managed to make a small profit of 9 cent, had all the money on another driver. It is really fun to trade these events, because often you get really crazy odds. It is amazing!

During the last two weeks I tried to get back to trading on tennis. I had a little break the weeks before which was quite helpful. Just traded with small amounts get confidence on what I am doing. I was very selective with the matches I traded on.

July is over, so I will do my monthly review about my betting and trading. Here is an overview of my results of July sorted by sports:
Horse Racing: EUR9.73
Motor Sport: EUR59.93
Tennis: EUR2.96
Total P&L: EUR72.62
The horse racing lay selections produced a small profit and I am happy with that. I had 12 selections with 10 winners and 2 losers. One winning selection does not count as a selection, because there was not enough money traded below 5.0, so I had 11 selections with 9 winning selections and 2 losing selections which produced a strike rate of 81%. Average winning lay odds was 4.14 which is a little higher than the average winning lay odds of the past months.
Trading Formula 1 was really nice this month. There were also difficult races, but I kept cool and stayed away. That might be a key for success. There is no need to trade as many events as possible, a mistake I made in the past too often.
Trading tennis did not worked really good. I only got involved in a few matches, so I am not worried about the small profit. There were two weeks with just small tournaments and I skipped those events.
July 2009 was the first month without conducting experiments. In past, too often I was wasting money because I tried out some strategies or ideas with money.
My time – profit ratio this month was really good. I avoided to sit in front of the computer too often, without getting involved.
