Preparing for Malta

Hi folks,

last few months have been fantastic. Manual version of HorstBecker performs really great. I am twittering (does this word exists??) the results on a daily bases. It is really comfortable to publish a small statement rather than writing a blog post. I can do it with my mobile, too.

Next week I will start moving in my new flat. A lot of work to do, but before Muxor and me will have a short vacation in Malta. Weather will be great and much better than in Germany. I will post some photos and I am sure it will be really exciting.

I have not forgotten my blog series about the bots. I think I can finish it after my move.

Busy Times

Hello,

Busy Sorry for not posting that often on the blog at the moment. I know there are a lot people out there waiting for the next blog post of the betting bot series.
Currently I have not enough time for anything. I am working on a job change and I am preparing for moving in a new flat. Really busy times at the moment.

Newsletter Tool

Hello,

In 2010 there will be some changes to the blog. I want to create a newsletter for the horse laying selections. This will save time for me and will make it more comfortable for people who are interested in the laying selections. There will be no need to open the blog web site. Even with your mobile you can get the selections via email.

Desired features:

  • Web based system
  • People should be able to (un)subscribe to the newsletter
  • Free of charge

Can anyone recommend a system like that?

Update

Hello,

It has been quiet during the last weeks on the blog.

Tennis season is nearly over and I am only betting on my lay selections and let the bots do their work.

I do not like blog post like “Today I made xx points profit or loss…” because that is not interesting and do not help any of the readers. It is easy to fake results and screenshots, so why bother people with this?

During the last few weeks Betfair upgrades their website and API too often. Like today the service was unavailable during the whole morning. Why don’t they do the stuff during night? More commission for them.

Currently I am working on the CTP (central tracking platform) for the selections of the bots. Today I had a few tests on it and it looked promising.

Both bots are not performing as expected. But if you have a look at the blogging sphere many people are struggling with their results in horse racing at the moment.

It is just a matter of time when we will bounce back into the profit zone.

Betting On The Greyhounds

Hello,

today I want to show you a video about betting on the greyhounds. Have a look:

I am really impressed. He uses techniques of Neuro-linguistic programming, which is a powerful tool also for traders and punters. But more in a legal way. So you can use techniques of NLP to avoid psychological traps.

Anyone Created a Bot Before?

Hello,

robot1 Did you try to create a bot for Betfair already? Anyone who did knows it is hard work. At the moment I am developing the Pre Race Horse Racing Analyzer which has already turned into a trading bot. This bot needs to collect data to determine when to enter and exit the market to make consistently profit.

I am working on the Baseball Matcher too, a software which will help me to get matched at the best prices for the Baseball selections I mentioned earlier. Baseball takes place mostly during the night in Europe, so I need to have an application, which will back and lay the given selections for me.

Generally I do not want to complain. I just want to let you know, that it is hard work to get such a software up and running, because you need to implement every little detail you can imagine. Things and thoughts human beings are doing can not be done by a bot easily. You need to implement every possibility, every little detail.

That’s it for now. I am tired.

Update

Hello,

sorry for the lack of updates during the last few days.
carSomeone crashed into my parked car and I had to clarify a few details with the insurance. I am still driving a rented car, so there are some issues I need to clarify during the next week. Hopefully I can get back to regular stuff in a few days.

At the moment I am also reading a book of Van K. Tharp about trading. More and more I realise, that I have to change a lot when trading. I will discuss this in further blog posts.

All the best when trading (or just parking your car)!

Wasting Self Confidence

Hello,

before I start writing about my trading since last update I want to mention the first birthday of the blog.

Happy Birthday
First blog post was on 17.03.2008 and this week on Tuesday the blog celebrated its first birthday. I learned a lot during the first year of blogging about my trading and I think my approach on trading on sport events has changed to a little more professional approach. I do not want to make a review on the first year of blogging and trading, because I do this every month on my analyses.

Here is an overview of my trades since last update:
overviewJust 3 bad trades let me staring on a red figure of -EUR50.89. Trading the 2009 BNP Paribas Open was not that easy. Scoreboard was not reliable, TV coverage was poor and often Betfair was not available. I do not want to complain about these issues, because those were not reasons for the loss. I started really well on trading the matches, but almost in every match I had to scratch my position and waiting again for an opportunity. It was a game of patience and discipline. During the following matches I lost my patience and discipline:

A Radwanska v Wozniak
Took a position early in the 2nd set. Scratched that, but no problem. Entered again, when Radwanska was serving for match. How the hell could I do that? Wasn’t a trading opportunity. Just wasting money.

Llagostera Vives v Kleybanova
Took a position when Kleybanova was 4-2 down in the 1st set. Really good trading opportunity, but did not pay off. Took stop loss. Everything fine so far. Started to entering again and again during the 2nd set. Was completely chasing a possible break. Again wasting money.

A Radwanska v Pavlyuchenkova
Backed Radwanska early in the 1st set. Radwanska made the break, I minimized risk, should have made it each way, but thought Radwanska can win 1st set easily. Pavlyuchenkova fought back, had to scratch the trade. Everything fine. Radwanska lost 1st set 7-6. Again I started chasing a possible break and added more money to the loss. Throwing the money far away.

It is not the amount of money I lost which annoys me. When doing these stupid things you also lose your self confidence very easily. Self confidence is so important when trading, so if you make stupid trades, you do not just lose money, you also lose self confidence for the next trades.
Mostly if I miss a trading opportunity or if I have to scratch a trade I try to force another trade. This is really an issue I have to work on.

Stats so far:
Total loss since last update: –50.89
Total profit this month: 40.04

This blog post seems to be so negative, so I want to add some good news:
For the future we will read some articles from a guest blogger called Philip Oliver. I am looking forward for his articles and hope we can take advantage of his views and thought on tennis.

That’s it for now. Be patient when trading ;)

Getting An Overview

Hello,

today BNP Paribas Open 2009 in Indian Wells will start with the qualifying round. Later this day the main draw will be released.

I have not visited any of these big tournaments so far, so I have a look at Live Search Maps of Microsoft to see those great tennis facilities.

Indian Wells Tennis Garden  (Click on image to enlarge)

In over 100 cities in the United States, Canada and in over 80 European locations, a bird's-eye view offers aerial photos from four angles. These Pictometry images are much more detailed than the aerial views from directly above buildings. Signs, advertisements, pedestrians, and other objects are clearly visible in many bird's eye views.

Have a nice day!

Premium Charges

Hi,

it seems that everyone is required to pay these new premium charges, because there is so much written about this in forums and blogs.

Actually I am not directly affected, but maybe I am affected, if the 'big traders' leave Betfair and markets liquidity would decrease.

I think we should not see only the bad things coming with this premium charges. It is possible that there is more business competition between the bet exchanges, because now more punters and traders have a look at other exchanges than Betfair.

That's all for now. All the best for trading!

I don't like Olympic Games

Hello,

well, I don't like the Olympic Games! There are so many sports, that's fantastic, but in Germany you can not trade them seriously. TV coverage is awful. They are jumping from sport to sport, so you do not know which sport is really live covered and which sport is a replay.

They also show boring sports like shooting or sailing. You can not trade them!

The tennis event at the Olympics is in progress, but there is not very much liquidity in Betfair markets and there isn't a working scoreboard for trading.

I took the time to do some paper trading of soccer. Last weekend German's football season has started with the first round of German Cup. At the moment I am in profit 'on paper' and I will have a look at the first matches of the German Bundesliga Season 2008/2009. I will try some strategies on Match Odds market and Correct Score market.

Actually I can say, the most powerful tool for trading these markets is using a stop loss. I will update my progress on paper next weekend.

Wish you all the best with trading!

Busy days at work

Hi,

I am really busy at work so I have not much time to trade and to write down my thoughts and trades. Will update later this week.

All the best, Loocie
